Limitations of Traditional Electrolysis
Electrolysis is painful and slow. If you want body hair permanently removed from many ares like myself, electrolysis takes years and years and years to get the job done if you can only afford 1-2 hours of treatment every week. Some electroligists will try to convince you otherwise, and some even trick clients to fly in to see them, and I would avoid such practitioners.
Electrology 3000
In contrast, Electrology 3000 is an exception to the rule. This famous company based near Dallas, Texas, used to be called Electrology 2000, and is also known as E3K in abbreviated form. They offer a few major advantages to traditional electrolysis:
- They offer full day megasessions with two electrologists working on you at the same time. So you could get 16 hours of treatment in one 8 hour treatment megasession!
- They inject you with lidocaine. The injection can be painful in some areas, especially the lip area. However, the advantage of lidocaine is that the electrologists working on you can then work rapidly and without pause, since you do not feel any pain. So in effect, the 16 hrs of treatment that I mentioned in the first point is even more due to the lack of pain and necessity of taking treatment breaks. I would not be surprised that you could get 20 hours of traditional electrolysis treatment in 8 hrs at Electrology 3000. Of course most people do not always have the time to allocate 8 hrs in a day, and some get treated by just one electrologist for part of the time they are at electrology 3000 due to cost concerns or due to them having too many clients on a busy day. I got around 4 hours of treatment with two electrologists and 1-2 hours of treatment with one electrologist during my visit there in 2009.
Disadvantages of Electrology 3000
The above might make it seem like E3K is an unbelievable alternative to traditional electrolysis. However, there are some things to keep in mind:
- The injections can be painful in sensitive areas. Even in insensitive areas, I found that the injections were painful when one electrologist was injecting me, but not so much when another on was injecting me.
- You have to put down some serious money if you do 8 hrs of treatment in one day with two electrologist. As of 2011, the price per electrologist was $105 per hour. I do think that in the long run, E3K is cheaper than traditional electrolysis because the former is faster and because you save money not driving back and forth every week like you do for traditional electrolysis. Note that E3K does offer discounts if you are willing to fly in at the last minute.
- If you get your face done in one day, you will probably get bad swelling. The links below show some such images.
