Of course it's me again...
So, I went in for my third LHR treatment for full arms and legs on Saturday but at 30J with the LightSheer Diode laser this time. The first two times it was 16J and 18J respectively. My skin type is IV.
It hurt more this time but still within my pain threshold. I did see a lot more scabbing and quite a bit of red swelling. I was worried about the red swelling and thought that maybe I was going to have permanent scarring but now, two days later the swelling has gone down a lot! My technician said to use polysporin for the scabbing.
I think my skin can handle this strength with this laser but I'll keep all of you posted if I end up having any problems. My next appointment is in 8 weeks. |

My skin was completely back to normal in less than 2 weeks! The redness and swelling was gone in a couple of days. The scabbing took a bit longer but it wasn't that bad. Scabs in general take a bit of time to heal and now that they have my skin is as good as new.
Being treated at 30J made a huge difference! It's been over 9 weeks now and there's a much more significant reduction than with my other treatments. My leg hair is much finer in most places and at least a bit finer in the rest of the areas. My arms are reacting really well with the exception of the back of my upper arm. That hair is probably the most fine that I have that I want to remove. The hair on my inner arm is almost invisible so I don't care too much about that. They say the diode is supposed to be good for fine hair so I'm hoping I'll notice a bigger difference after my next treatment.
I have my 4th treatment later this coming week (had to delay it due to schedule problems) so I'll post again next week afterwards. |

Hey vml, any updates?
Did you ask your clinic if they have pictures of other South Asian people as I would be curious to know how good long-term results can be.
Good luck with your further treatments. |

Hello, everyone, vml..nice to see I have place to read about my "dark skin"-laser hair removal woes. I have been thinking about laser hair removal for many years now and feel perhaps its time to give it a chance. I have a deep brown/yellowish complexion. I recently visited a laser hair removal clinic called the laser centre and the lady a registered nurse gave me 15 minute quick chat. They use sheer diode system I believe. I am looking to get it done on my tummy, lower back, underarms. She said that most of my tummy and lower back was too fine although the difference in color between my skin and hair(black) is quite noticeable. I was never tested for skin type or anything like that. They did not offer to do a test either so am wondering is it standard procedure? If any of you are from Calgary and have had this done, please tell me who you went to.
VML and we do appreciate your posts, they are informative and well received.
Hope to hear from you.
