On this page, I maintain a list of clinics and doctors that are highly experienced at treating patients of a darker skin tone with laser and non-laser procedures. In a majority of cases, this will pertain to laser hair removal and hyperpigmentation correction. However, most of these clinics also offer other skin treatments for people with dark ethnic skin. This includes laser scar revision, skin resurfacing, microneedling and more.
United States
- Romeo & Juliette Laser (New York, NY). Perhaps the most experienced laser hair removal clinic in the US for people of color. Their CEO Christian Karavolas has over 20 years of experience in using lasers for hair removal.
- Dr. Adebola Dele-Micheal (New York, NY). Check out her appearance on Sister Circle and her clinic’s Instagram.
- Smarter Skin Dermatology (New York, NY). Dr. Sejal Shah is widely cited in many media publications. Check out the clinic’s Instagram.
- Dr. Eliot Battle and Cultura Dermatology & Laser Center (Washington DC). See their interesting history (including cosmetic laser pioneer Dr. Rox Anderson) here. Dr. Eliot Battle’s research at Harvard helped to pioneer the safe use of lasers on skin of color.
- Dr. Cheryl Burgess (Washington DC). Her Instagram.
- Crutchfield Dermatology (Eagen, MN). Dr. Charles Crutchfield is among the most experienced in the country at treating people of color with ethnic skin.
- Dr. Alexis Stephens and Parkland Dermatology (Coral Springs, FL). They have some excellent videos on YouTube and Instagram.
- Ringpfeil Dermatology (Haverford, PA). Experienced at treating African American and ethnic skin types, including for keloids, scars and hair removal.
